Multi Skilled Courses
We are often asked if we offer a multi-skilled course due to a demand for maintenence workers and multi-skilled trades people. We would not recommend attending a course of less than 5 days unless you only want to learn one aspect of a trade, for example, measuring cutting and fixing skirting boards but nothing else related to carpentry. if that is the case then please contact the centre and if we receive the demand then we will look at splitting trades. At the moment though we believe that you will need to know more than one aspect of each trade to be successful in gaining employment / work.
If you are planning on attending several courses then please contact the centre to discuss a discount. the courses that you choose are down to your individual needs but as we offer each course on a regular basis then we should be able to accommodate your needs. One popular selection of courses is plastering, plumbing and tiling and I have included some infomration on this multi skilled / bathroom installer course below.
30 Day Multi Skilled / Bathroom Installer Course
We now offer a 30 day multi-skilled / bathroom installer course which is proving popular because:
- Customers prefer to use one trades person to complete projects such as modernising a bathroom rather than arrange a tiler, plaster and plumber to complete the work.
- If you are multi-skilled then you are able to obtain work either plastering, plumbing or tiling separately or as a package which increases the jobs you are able to quote for.
- If you are successful in obtaining a complete project such as modernising a bathroom then that one job will give you several days / couple of weeks work which can be preferable to several one / two day jobs.
During the 30 days of training you will complete the following:
Plastering - You will complete 10 days of plastering training. The training will be held in realistic sized training bays and throughout the training you will; fix plasterboards using the dot and dab technique, apply plaster to plasterboards, apply plaster to plastered walls, apply plaster to ceilings, measure cut and fix beading and complete patch and repair work to walls and ceilings. A more detailed description of the course content can be found by clicking here

Business Start-up - Throughout your training we will discuss a number of elements that are important when thinking of starting your own business as a trades person. We will discuss; naming of your company, self employed or limited company, what services you will offer and to what customers, how to price jobs and complete invoices, contacting suppliers and opening accounts, how to market your service and techniques to use when dealing with customers. At the end of the course you will have produced a basic business plan that you can take with you.
This course, as with all our training courses, is intensive and aimed at providing you with as much quality training as possible in the time you are at the centre, therefore you will spend every hour of every day learning and practicing. We are able to include so many elements into the training as you are taught by experienced tradespeople who have many years experience of completing the content in a working environment.
There are no more than 10 people on a course at any one time and each person will have their own training bay, tools and materials and everyone on the course has either paid for the course themselves or has had access to limited funding, so everyone is here to learn as much as possible.
Before attending the course please feel free to compile a list of questions relating to the trades and if you have any projects that you intend on completing after your training please bring details with you.
Who is this course suitable for?
This course is designed for people with little or no previous experience and who wish to learn the key aspects of plastering, plumbing and tiling.
