5 Days Bricklaying Course with City & Guilds Unit Certificate
Who is this course suitable for?
This course is suitable for people who have little or no experience of bricklaying. The course is practical based and you will work in a purpose built training area.
Course Objectives and Certification.
We aim to make all attendees proficient with the basic tools, materials, backgrounds, preparations, and techniques of bricklaying.
We will supply all tools and materials required. Upon completion you will receive a Guild of Master Craftsmen certificate of competence. You will also receive 1 unit certificate issued by City & Guilds: City & Guilds 6217 Unit 053
You will cover the following units:
- Construct 4" and 9" brick walls, 90° corners, and attached piers.
- Construct block walls with 90° corners.
- Construct cavity walls, straight and 90° corners including ties and damp proof course.
- Identify and use hand tools used in bricklaying.
- Identify and use materials used in bricklaying.
- Understand the purpose of planning, organising and setting out a work area.
- Demonstrate basic trowel skills.
- Understand different bonds-English Garden Wall Bond, Stretcher Bond, etc.
- Demonstrate producing neat and tidy cuts to bricks.
- Demonstrate pointing and finishing.
Understanding the different methods used to price jobs, dealing with customers and overcoming problems that may arise. You will also be provided with support after completing your course and you are able to contact your tutor, email or call into the training centre to discuss your queries.
Supporting information on business start-up, this is provided if you require and is additional to your course contents. Whilst you are on the course we concentrate on plastering but you are free to discuss business start-up with staff in breaks etc and we can provide you with supporting notes. We do have separate sessions available from 2 hours to 3 days in duration at no extra cost.

Duration and Cost.
5 Days in duration with supporting notes to revise as home study.
The cost of this course is £425 INC VAT and includes use of all tools and materials, the cost of registering you with the awarding body and certification.
NOTE: Upon successfully completing the course we will also confirm that you have met the competences required for a Construction Site Operatives CSCS Card.
