5 Day Carpentry Course with City & Guilds Unit Certificate

The best way to learn any trade is to recieve practical training in small groups with theory to support what we have covered. This course, as with all our training courses, is intensive and aimed at providing you with as much quality training as possible in the time you are at the centre, therefore you will spend every hour of every day learning and practicing.
This course is practical based and you will be out of the classroom and into your practical training bays on the first morning of the course.
There are no more than 10 people on a course at any one time and upon completion of the course you will receive a City & Guilds unit certificate in Site Carpentry.
Course Objectives.
You will cover the following units:
- Understand and use hand tools and equipment used in carpentry.
- Understand the use of different materials to complete different projects.
- Use a range of power tools used in carpentry including drivers, drills, jigsaws, circular saw, mitre saw, planer, sander and router.
- Build stud partitioning leaving a window and door opening.
- Fix a door frame, hang a door and fix furniture.
- Cut and fix architrave.
- Fit locks, mortise / yale.
- Cut and fix skirting boards.
- Box in pipes, electric meters, etc.
- Understand the different methods used to price jobs, dealing with customers and overcoming problems that may arise.
- Fully answer all your questions related to the trade.

Duration and Cost
5 full days in duration, from 8am until 4pm at the Willenhall centre and from 9am until 5pm at the Stoke centre. Please arrive at the training centre at least 15 minutes before the course start time.
The cost of this course is £450 INC VAT and there are no hidden extra costs. You only need to bring yourself, work clothes, suitable footwear and your lunch, we will provide everything else - there is even free tea and coffee.
We ask for a non-refundable deposit of £100 to secure your place on a course and full payment 10 days prior to the course start date. if you wish to discuss other payment options please contact the centre on 01782 837007. The eposit is subtracted from the total cost of the course, £100 deposit with £350 outstanding.
Who is this course suitable for?
This course is designed for people with little or no previous experience and who wish to learn the key aspects of carpentry. People attend this course either because they wish to learn the skills to complete carpentry / joinery work to a high standard on their own properties, or for people who wish to supplement their income by working part time as a self employed or for those who wish to take the first step towards changing their career. Other tradesmen also attend this course so that they can add another skill to increase work options.
